摘要
Due to the request for environmental protection, renewable energies were grown rapidly in the last decade. Solar and wind energies are the most used in this field. Moreover, the integration of these sources to grid requires additional devices to improve power quality and ensure voltage stability. This paper presents a new application of photovoltaic solar farm (PVSF) converter to act as static synchronous compensator (STATCOM), in order to regulate a point of common connection (PCC) voltage of mixed wind farm which will be included with squirrel cage induction generator (SCIG) and doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) both at night and daytime. The control scheme of the PVSF converter consists of using the inverter capacity left after real power production during the daytime. While, at night time, the total capacity rating of the PVSF inverter is used to perform the aforementioned purpose. Consequently, the system stability and efficiency can be improved. The proposed control is simulated by means of MATLAB/Simulink platform, based on a detailed system model.
