摘要
The use of antibacterial and environmentally friendly materials in industrial applications is important for sustainable manufacturing. In this study, the performance of newly developed nano-silver-added cutting fluids was investigated through the surface quality and cutting forces in the drilling of AISI 304 austenitic stainless steel material. The investigation of tribological performances of colloidal suspensions formed by nano-silver with the vegetable and the boron oils is unique for the literature. The drilling surfaces were examined visually and elementally by 3D topography, SEM and XRD analysis. The experimental results showed that nano-silver added vegetable-based cutting fluid provides similar to 15% better performance than boron fluid in reducing surface roughness. In terms of reducing cutting forces, nano-silver-reinforced vegetable and boron oils could not exhibit positive performance.
