摘要
Picosecond pulsed hard X-rays were generated by focusing a fentosecond laser beam onto an Fe target at 10(17) W/cm(2). We demonstrated pump-probe X-ray diffraction experiments with the laser irradiated Si with temporal resolution of 50 ps using the pulsed X-rays generated. Acoustic phonon propagation and successive lattice expansion due to laser heating were observed in the single-irradiation experiment. Shock compression was observed in the multipule-irradiation experiment. Shock wave propagation was directly observed and the time evolution of the strain profile inside the Si crystals was determined.
