摘要
The regular arrangement of chromophores in macromolecules and clusters at distances less than the wavelength leads to the effect of screening hypochromism. This effect is due to a fall in the mean absorption probability, i.e., the mutual shielding of chromophores from light in the competition for a given photon. In macromolecular biostructures, this effect, together with other factors, can cause a decrease in the molar absorption coefficient; however, using the screening model alone, it is possible to predict the hyperchromism of oligonucleotides DNA, proteins, aggregates of aromatic hydrocarbons; and some other structures.
