摘要
The tensile mechanical properties of amorphous, crystallised (during tensile tests) and crystalline Mg-35 wt.% Ni in the temperature range of 25-300 degrees C were evaluated. The alloy tested in the amorphous and crystallised state exhibit higher strength than the crystalline material at temperatures below 300 degrees C. This different behaviour is associated with the different microstructures resulting from different stages of crystallisation of the amorphous alloy and that of the crystalline material. The microstructure formed during the tensile tests starting from the amorphous alloy depends on the slow crystallisation kinetics. Thus, the microstructure formed during the tensile test consists of metastable microstructures with lower volume fractions of lath-like Mg2Ni particles than that observed in the crystalline material. Only at 300 degrees C the tensile curves could be superimposed for both materials, indicating the formation of similar microstructures. (c) 2004 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
