摘要
The livelihood of the coastal population of national economies of Sub-Saharan Africa is dependent on coastal and marine resources. However, coastal development, urbanization and population growth have burdened these costal resources. Sub-Saharan Africa is experiencing overexploitation of marine fisheries, habitat degradation, and biodiversity loss. Management measures that take into account the sustenance of livelihoods of coastal communities and economic growth of coastal states is therefore needed. Several papers which provide an opportunity for sharing experiences on the implementation of ICZM in Africa is presented in a single volume. This volume will stimulate those involved in ICM to communicate their experiences to add to future references.
