摘要
In summary, our data suggest that the neurotrophic factor BDNF might participate in the regulation of amyloid plaque-associated axonal sprouting. For elucidating the potentially rather complex regulatory network involved in inducing plaque-associated sprouting mechanisms, the LMD technology offers an exciting tool to pinpoint specific cellular expression patterns to defined glia and neuron populations. Ultimately, this research might pave the way for developing novel strategies intended to influence axonal sprouting, thereby addressing treatment options for dementia and loss of function during AD. © 2005 Elsevier GmbH.
