摘要:
Pine bark (Pinus oaxacana Mirov) is an abundant organic byproduct in Oaxaca due to the State's interest in forestry. Production is estimated in 72.000 tonnes per year. On the other hand, protected horticulture in Oaxaca is increasing, making way to the transformation of pine bark into substrate or substrate components as an alternative to the use of forest soil and Sphagnum peat moss. The pine bark was mixed with bovine manure 3: 1 (v/v) and was put into a composting pile for 241 days, keeping track of temperature and humidity. The resulting pine bark compost was the basis for the formulation of eight mixes with other components (peat, expanded clay, vermiculite). The physical and chemical properties of these mixes were analyzed according to the UNE EN rules. In summary, it can be concluded that physical and chemical properties of the compost of the bark of Pinus oaxacana Mirov and the prepared substrates comply with the conditions to be used as culture substrates, and are a sustainable alternative allowing the substitution, at least in part, of peat moss as a growing medium.
