This review discusses the role of pre- and post-synaptic dopaminergic imaging in suspected Parkinson's disease, vascular parkinsonism, the parkinsonian syndromes, drug induced movement disorder, and Lewy body dementia. It is envisaged that this information may be useful to neurologists, psychiatrists, physicians/geriatricians, radiologists and nuclear medicine physicians. (C) 2005 Lippincott Williams Wilkins.
