Construction project management maturity model (CPM3): System and structure

Recently Project Management Maturity Model is attracting more and more attention in the related fields. There are two reasons: one is that project management has become significant for all kinds of organizations; the other is that the model is an important tool to evaluate and improve project management processes, and to improve the project management ability. At present CMM in the software has been accepted widely, and has been playing an important role. However, because construction project management has its own inherent characteristic, and is more complex and difficult than software project, the application of the model in construction becomes more significant and challenging. Based on studying and referring many models, this paper offers the concept and basic components of construction project management maturity model, and make the relationship among them clear, and also establishes a two-layer structure system model with maturity unit as its core. In addition, the basic implementation progresses for this model are supplied. This model will help improving construction project management maturity level and benefits the following study.
