Performance evaluation for a new embedded linux based RAID system

摘要
A newly designed RAID system based on embedded Linux operating system is presented in this article. The RAID system consists of three fibre channel controllers for the interface with a fibre channel disks and a host computer system. As the software components of the RAID system, a SCSI target mode device driver, a target mode SCSI module and a target cache module are implemented and are ported to the system. The target cache module is implemented for enhancing the system performance and for connecting Linux Multi-device and the target mode SCSI module. Also, the RAID 5 module of Linux Multi-device is modified by removing its cache for the performance improvement of the read operation. The overall performance evaluation result shows that the newly designed RAID system is superior to the original Linux RAID system.
