摘要
In the narratological Spatial Turn, spatial form functions as a structural element to push forward narrative on the plane of narrative discourse with features of juxtaposition, overlapping and pure time around the theme. In Faulkner's novels, through juxtaposition of spatial scenes, phrases, images and point of view, parallel threads of plot achieve narrative wholeness; and characters exist as spatial entities on which the past and the present overlap in space, and the overlapping represents the doomed destination of family and individual; but pure time lightens an enormous psychological space constructed by memories and records. This spatial form expresses the Southerners' wish to transcend time.
