Grounded CPW multi-band wearable antenna for MBAN and WLAN applications

摘要
In this paper, a grounded CPW-fed multi-band (GCM) wearable antenna for WLAN and medical application is presented. The multi-band antenna operated at 2.4 GHz, 3.5 GHz, 6 GHz, and 6.7 GHz with a size of 58.5 mm x 62 mm. The grounded CPW consists of T-shape silver fabric for radiating patch and defected rectangular ground plane. The antenna fabricated and tested on two different substrate, the non-woven layer and cotton layer with dielectric constant 1.15, thickness 5 mm, and dielectric constant 1.65 with thickness 1 mm, respectively. The numerical and experimental result for different bending conditions are studied and also the antenna implementation on cotton layer using adhesive and sewing are compared. In different bending condition and different fabrication structures the result shows a good agreement between measurement results and simulations. The comparison confirms that the GCM wearable antenna could be a good candidate for wearable WLAN applications.
