Finite element model updating with modal test results

The challenging problem of structural model updating based on dynamic response of the structure has always been an active research area in structural dynamics. The objective of this paper is to develop finite element model updating techniques that can be used efficiently to modify the original finite element model to match the modal test data and preserve the integrity of the model. Several approaches based on different kinds of measured modal data have been verified. The successful and efficient implementation of these approaches incorporated with finite element analysis has also been described. Finally, discussions about the merits and defects of these proposed approaches according to the numerical results are given.
