摘要：

Facial detection and identification technique is one of the most challenging research area in the field of pattern recognition and machine vision. This thesis focuses on a commonly used face recognition algorithm in the public security system. The experimental result indicated, feature extraction based on the wavelet decomposition and classifying with SVM has the superiorty over traditional methods on the small sample, it can enhance the recognition rate.
