摘要
We briefly discuss the main mechanical and thermal proper ties of low-mass stars and substellar objects, which determine their structure and evolution. Comparison is made with observations in various color-magnitude diagrams. We determine the stellar and substellar mass functions and then the contribution of these objects to the mass budget of the various Galactic components.
