摘要
The paper discusses impacts of industrial and energy related facilities in the Central Asia region on water resources. As Kazakhstan has the largest industry sector output in gross domestic product (GDP) structure among the Central Asian countries, the examples are based on Kazakhstan's facilities. The data on power plants water discharge pollutants for the largest rivers in Kazakhstan are presented. A qualitative and quantitative risk analysis on the public health related to environmental contamination by a chemical plant and a mining facility is performed based on the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) methodology. Regulatory constraints for risk assessment in Kazakhstan are discussed.
