Monte Carlo study of the dynamical fluctuation properties inside jets in high energy hadron-hadron collisions

摘要
The dynamical fluctuations inside jets in the p-p collisions at CERN-Sp (p) over barS collider are studied using Monte Carlo method. The event sample is produced using the LUND Monte Carlo generator PYTHIA5.5(JETSET7.3). The jets are identified by "cone" jet-algorithm. The vector sum of the momenta of all the particles inside a jet is defined as the axis of this jet. Rapidity gamma, transverse momentum p(t) and azimuzal angle phi are defined with respect to this axis. Second order factorial moments are calculated for these variables and the Hurst exponents H-ij = ln lambda (i)/ln lambda (j) = (1 + gamma (j))/(1 + gamma (i)) are obtained. The results show that H-ypt approximate to 0.74, H-y phi approximate to 0.82 both are less than unity, while H-pt phi approximate to 1.11 is near to unity. This means that the dynamical fluctuations inside jets have approximately the similar property as those in fixed-target hadron-hadron collisions at SPS, i.e. anisotropic in the longitudinal-transverse directions while isotropic in the transverse plan.
