Huainan coalfield is the coal base which has the largest coal resource in East China. People are paying more and more attention to the impact of Huainan coal on the environment during its use, and mercury is one of the trace elements in coal people concern about. We didn't find mercury can enrich in the tailings and waste rocks and it can't be removed effectively in the washing when studying the migration law of mercury of Huainan coal during its washing process. To further confirm the conclusion, this paper gives an analysis to the correlation of mercury, sulfur, ash, iron and selenium, and it shows that mercury doesn't have good correlation with sulfur, ash, iron and selenium, further confirming the conclusion that the mercury in coal samples doesn't enrich in minerals. Based on this conclusion, it can be inferred that the mercury in Huainan raw coal may be bound by organic matters in some forms, which is different from the general current view about the occurrence of mercury in minerals, especially in sulfur. It may be the reason that Huainan coal is the low sulfur coal and the mercury content in coal is not rich.
