摘要
This paper presents an experimental investigation of feature size of crack under the different load conditions during single grit indentation, which provides a critical insight into material removal mechanisms for improving cutting efficiency and quality. During the investigation, a diamond indenter was used to press optical glass, and the feature sizes in two different directions, which are vertical feature size D-1 and horizontal feature size D-2, are observed to analyze the features of crack. The experimental results show that the load conditions have significant impacts on the feature size of crack. By comparing feature sizes under the different load conditions, it has demonstrated that vertical feature size D-1 and horizontal feature size D-2 increase with the increasing of force.
