Effect of an electric field on water evaporation

摘要
It was found that a quasi-uniform high-strength electric field causes an increase in the rate of the evaporation of liquids. The effect is more pronounced when the electrode above the water surface or an aqueous KCl solution has positive potential (in this case, the direction of the field is the same as that of atmospheric electricity). The results obtained imply that the water molecules of the surface layer are orientated so that the oxygen atoms point toward the gas phase.
