2-amino-6-methylpyridinium 3-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)-prop-2-enoate monohydrate

In the title salt, C6H9N2+ center dot C10H9O4- center dot H2O, the cation, anion and solvent molecule are held together by N-H center dot center dot center dot O hydrogen bonds. A one-dimensional chiral chain along the c axis is formed by O-H center dot center dot center dot O hydrogen bonds. The chirality of the supramolecular chain-like arrangement is extended into layers parallel to the ( 101) plane by additional O-H center dot center dot center dot O hydrogen bonds. The structure is further stabilized by pi-pi interactions between benzene and pyridine rings [centroid-to-centroid distances = 3.813 ( 4) and 3.658 ( 3) angstrom].
