Production of polymethoxylated flavones is stimulated maximally in orange and tangerine fruit peels one month after spraying the citrus plants with Aminol Forte (Inagrosa, Spain) and two months after treatment with Ethrel. Contents of fungistatic flavones-nobiletin, sinensetin, tangeretin, and 3,5,6,7,8,3',4'-heptamethoxyflavone-increased in the treated fruits. It is suggested that this increase raises the citrus fruit resistance to phytopathogenic fungi. Aminol Forte, in comparison to Ethrel, stimulated more markedly the production of fungistatic polymethoxylated flavones in the citrus fruit peel, and its effect occurred exactly in the posttreatment period the most favorable for ripening and increases in crop yields.
