Thirty Years after: Democratic Efficiency of the Bulgarian Civil Society?

The article examines an overview and evaluation of the civil society in Bulgaria and its role in democratic development after the democratic transition, consolidation of democracy and the process of Europeanization, thirty years after the changes. Civil society in Bulgaria is analyzed and overview through the last 30 years and is presented from the point of its importance for the quality of democracy in Bulgaria and also to the process of Europeanization of the Bulgarian civil sector. Analysis is provided to the process, challenges, actions taken, different phases of development and themes within the civil society in Bulgaria, the level of trust and mistrust of the citizens to the civic activists and movements taking into account the quality of democracy in Bulgaria and the democratic efficiency of the sector. The article provides analyzes of the quality of democracy in respect to civil society.
