The article considers the position and activities of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC)under the German occupation. The authors analyzed the documents by Greek Catholics, Germanand Soviet authorities, and tried to understand the circumstances of the relationship between theUGCC hierarchy and the occupation regime. The transformation of the position of the GreekCatholics towards the German occupation authorities was studied. The work also highlights thesocial and socio-political activity of the Greek Catholic clergy in Galicia during this period, churchactivities to support those in need. In addition, we analyzed the connection of the UGCC with theUkrainian nationalist movement - the church, on the one hand, supported the idea of independence,on the other, condemned terror.
