A Suboptimal Iterative Algorithm for Optimization of Antenna Layout

摘要
It is widely recognized that different antenna layouts have different effect on the ergodic capacity of Multiple-input-Multiple-output (MIMO) system. However, the multidimensional optimization problem involved in the optimization of antenna layout is mathematically intractable due to the exponential computation complexity. Therefore, in this paper a suboptimal iterative algorithm is presented for optimization of antenna layout in terms of ergodic capacity. In the proposed algorithm, the multi-dimensional optimization problem is reduced to one-dimensional problems within each iteration, hence the computation complexity is reduced greatly. The numerical results show that the ergodic capacity obtained with the proposed algorithm is very close to that obtained with simulated annealing.
