摘要
In the first part of this review article the indications to perform a cytological lymph node examination are described as well as the technique for collection of sample material and preparation of cytological slides. Indications to perform a cytological lymph node examination are local and systemic enlargements of lymph nodes as well as lymph nodes of normal size in order to screen for tumour metastases. Fine needle aspiration is especially suited to collect sample material due to the exposed location of the superficial body lymph nodes, afterwards the slides are made with the squash technique. Staining can be performed using conventional haematological stainings or rapid stains.
