Real-time fuzzy controller by fusing algorithm with hardware

摘要
It is still troublesome for an unskilled developer to implement a fuzzy controller with micro-control unit, industrial control computer, fuzzy inference chip and so on, and is dissatisfactory in real-time performance. Aimed at these problems, a novel hardware implementation was presented to develop a general two-dimensional fuzzy controller. Firstly, an idea, that is to implement function transform with memory address mapping, was analyzed. Secondly, a general two-dimensional fuzzy controller was designed through selecting fuzzification, inference engine, defuzzification and input/output membership functions, and it is actually a rigid function. Finally, circuits of the fuzzy controller were designed and implemented with memory address mapping. Experimental results show that the hardware implementation is effective, and excellent in real-time performance. The implementation effectively simplifies hardware circuits because its whole controller is very simple without CPU. Meanwhile, it is very easy to be applied, i.e., only connecting with the sensor/transducer, the driver and the actuator is OK.
