Personality can be conceptualized as recurrent, interconnected patterns of perceptions, affect, motivations, and overt behaviour in interpersonal interaction. Hopwood (2018) presents a model which allows spelling out patterns of within- situation dynamics relevant for normal and disordered personality functioning. While a detailed understanding of within- situation dynamics represents an important starting point, close attention needs to be paid to mechanisms responsible for whether or not within- situation dynamics reoccur across situations and time.
