Reactions of Sb(OPri)(3) with Schiff base ligands [LH2= OHC6H4CH=N(R)OH where R = -CH2CH(CH3)-{(LH2)-H-1}, R= -(CH2)(3)- {(LH2)-H-2}, R = -(CH2)(2)- {(LH2)-H-3} and R = -C(CH3)(2)CH2- {(LH2)-H-4}], in 1:a molar ratio have been carried out to yield mononuclear derivatives of antimony, SbLLH {L=L-1=(1), L-2=(2), L-3=(3) and L-4=(4)}. Equimolar reactions of SbLLH with Al(OPri)(3) yield heterodinuclear derivatives of antimony, SbLLAl(OPri)(2) {L=L-1(5), L-2=(6), L-3=(7) and L-4=(8)}. All these derivatives have been characterized by elemental analyses, molecular weight measurements and their plausible structures have been proposed on the basis of IR, NMR [H-1, C-13 and Al-27] and FAB-mass studies of these compounds. Antimicrobial activities of Schiff bases LH2 and corresponding mononuclear derivatives have been studied.
