Education, job and return migration of French University graduates

Using French surveys of six generations between 1998 and 2013, we examine the migration of university students and graduates by describing their evolving spatial patterns. Trivariate sequential and truncated probit model indicates highly educated youths tend to stay in the same region for higher education. Although they remain the majority profile, NonMigrants decrease in proportion over the generations. The increase in mobility is partly captured by the rise in Return Migrants. It demonstrates the relational anchorage of graduates and the risk for territories to engage in attractivity policies.
