摘要
This paper depicts a wideband Multiple Rectangular Slotted Elliptical (MRSE) patch antenna for microwave-based head imaging applications. A slotted elliptical-shaped primary radiator patch and slotted partial ground are incorporated with the proposed antenna. Starting with the standard wide-slot antenna various design approaches are used to increase bandwidth and directivity and to reduce its dimension among them distinct kinds of slots especially rectangular slots have been used in both patch and ground plane to increase antenna performance. The antenna dimensions optimized in 57x38x1.6 mm(3) and electrically in 0.266 lambda x0.177 lambda x0.007 lambda (lambda has been the wavelength of the lower recorded frequency). Patch and ground are mounted on FR-4 substrates with 4.3 permittivity and 1.6mm thickness that are cheaper and more available. The obtained bandwidth is 1.8 GHz (1.4-3.2 GHz) and %BW is 78.26%. The prototype has a max gain around 3.34 dBi at 3.12 GHz and a peak radiation efficiency of approximately 94% across the active frequency spectrum. Different design approaches are carried out in order to meet the much more efficient outcome. The proposed design structure is developed and reviewed by most popular 3D CST 2019 solver.
