摘要
A nine-gap extended interaction oscillator (EIO) circuit capable of continuous multimode operation is proposed to overcome the continuous electronic tuning range limitation of the conventional single-mode operation EIO circuit. Circuit analysis shows that it has the capability of stable continuous mode switching between multiple operating modes with the sweeping operating voltage. Particle-in-cell simulation shows that a continuous mode switching between the pi/8 mode and the 2 pi mode is achieved with a continuous electronic tuning range of 95.50-96.23 GHz. Working mechanism of the continuous multimode operation is preliminary studied by the "cold cavity" and "hot cavity" analysis.
