Media Education in Web-Based College English Teaching Mode

Traditional education puts emphasis on developing basic skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. Media has become the indispensable part in our life. Many students consider media is essential channel to learn English. Hence, media literacy becomes a necessary skill. However, understanding media requires more critical thinking because of complicated relationship between media and political and commercial benefits. More and More media material is used in web-based college English teaching mode in China. College English Curriculum Requirements also mention the relative requirements. It is significant to study cross-curricula media education in English teaching. Many countries contribute a lot with distinguished achievements. However, it is never practiced before to integrate media education into daily English teaching in China. The study on media education in English teaching is a new and tremendous field in China. The solution to the situation of web-based college English teaching mode in China can be proposed on the basis of exploring the significance of integrating media education into English curriculum teaching.
