摘要
In mere future a comparable amount of electrical energy is generated through the renewable energy sources [RES] and integrated into the grid. The behavior of the sources is not same as conventional generating units and these are intermittent in nature. At present the presence of these sources is low in Indian power sector, therefore the effect is not much familiar. But as contribution of energy from these sources will increase, there effect will be visible. Hence there is a need to estimate the effects of high renewable energy penetration into the grid. Indian electrical grid is one of the largest grids in the world and is aiming for 175 GW of Renewable power by 2022 and even more in future. This paper analysis effects of high penetration of these sources on the Indian grid. The behavior of major renewable sources and their operational features are key sources of analyzing the impacts. A comparative study of these sources with the conventional units is made in this paper. This paper also briefs the operational changes to be made in the grid for their effective use. This paper summarizes the studies made by the utilities and research solutions to reduce the effects and also suggests the prior preparation to be made by the power sector.
