Arrhostus Motschulsky is a new subgenus of the genus Cymindis (Coleoptera, Carabidae)

Arrhostus Motschulsky 1864, a new established subgenus of the genus Cymindis Latreille 1806, which was considered earlier within the subgenus Cymindis s. str., is described. Six species from Central Asia and Mediterranean region were included into the new subgenus: Cymindis decora Foscher von Waldheim 1829, C. quadrisignata Menetries 1848, C. klapperichi Jedlicka 1956, C. accentifera Zoubkoff 1833, C. andrea Menetries 1832, and C. picta Pallas 1771 (with the subspecies C. picta picta Pallas 1771 and C. picta attenuata Jakowleff 1887). A diagnosis of the subgenus is given. A key for the identification of Arrohostus and Cymindis s. str. is provided.
