摘要
Background Intersectionality describes connections between different forms and dimensions of diversity. Intersectional approaches can help explain and improve the validity of research outcomes and contribute to the effectiveness of health programs. Aim This paper aims to investigate how intersectionality can be implemented in research. Methods In a practical workshop, intersectionality following a model by Bilge was applied to a case from a field observation. Reflections were put into writing and amplified in an iterative process. Results Three central themes were identified: (1) Autonomy and dignity in dealing the physicality and nudity of the female patient, (2) professional interactions by way of example of lacking joint decision-making and treatment planning and unequal communication between the actors as well as (3) reflexivity by way of the example of biased perspectives of the actors. Conclusions The methodology used can serve to promote awareness of diversity and intersectionality in research practice.
