摘要
The paper outlines the methodology and development of a computer-aided knowledge-based modular inspection planning system for preparing inspection plans from CAD toleranced component model. The system has the flexibility for integration with a co-ordinate measuring machine(CMM) for complete automation of the inspection process in an integrated design and manufacturing environment. The integrated inspection planning system includes: feature extraction; inspection probe planning and probe selection; probe accessibility analysis of inspection items; tolerance feature analysis, clustering algorithm; path generation and inspection process simulation. The developed system allows simulation of the inspection precess at the design stage to evaluate the component for concurrent engineering application.
