摘要
Butyl rubber samples were evaluated against sulfur mustard for their protective potentials using static diffusion test method. A few samples offered a very low resistance to the permeation of sulfur mustard, possibily due to evolution of some interfering chemicals from the matrix of butyl rubber samples, affecting the detection of sulfur mustard, resulting in ifs false positive indication. Lead acetate, a scavenger, was used successfully to frap any hydrogen sulfide and other bivalent sulfur compounds, and samples were then evaluated for their actual protective potentials against the chemicals warfare agent.
