摘要
We present an optical procedure for displaying in a single picture a one-dimensional (1-D) signal, say along the x-axis. At the same time, the picture contains all the near-field diffraction patterns, say along the y-axis, of the 1-D signal. This result is applied for visualizing the formation of self-images in free-space, i.e., the Talbot effect. Numerical simulations as well as experimental verifications are included.
