Calameuta middlekauffi, n. sp., is described from southern Oregon and California. It is the second species of Calameuta in North America and is differentiated from C. clavata (Norton) by head shape and coloration. Illustrations, descriptions, and a key are given to separate the two species. The food plant is unknown, but Palearctic species of Calameuta are known to feed in grass stems.
