摘要
Around the world, modern steel production is closely associated with continuous casters and sequential casting. When two different steel grades are casted by the latter-mentioned technique, a transition zone with an indeterminate chemical composition forms in the tundish which leads to that material's rejection. Therefore the casting process should be controlled in such a way that losses are minimised. This article describes the possibility of determining the transition zone by means of modelling. With this method it is possible to adapt the casting parameters so that an optimum limitation of the transition zone size for existing continuous casters and - at the same time - achievement of a loss-free casting process are ensured.
