Investigation of gas-dynamic processes in a tube under sudden communication with the atmosphere

The regularities of gas-dynamic processes in a tube under sudden communication at its one end with the atmosphere are investigated. The tube is originally closed at both ends and filled with a the medium whose pressure is higher or lower than the atmospheric one. In the former case, its sudden communication with the atmosphere will be accompanied by an outflow from the tube into unbounded space, and, in the latter case, an inflow of air from the atmosphere into the tube will take place.
