摘要
The correlation energy due to the ring diagrams of an electron gas is evaluated analytically at low temperatures. We emphasize an important correction term that was neglected in the previous calculation. This correction comes from the difference between the frequency summation and the corresponding integral of the zero-temperature limit. The correction contains a t(2) ln t term, which cancels out the t(2) lnt term in the exchange energy, and a large contribution to the t(2) term. The coefficient of t(2) in the exchange-correlation energy is thus obtained exactly in the standard random-phase approximation.
