Thermal simulation on meniscus motion in the continuous casting with multi-electromagnetic field

摘要
ddWood alloy, as simulated media of molten steel, was used to investigate meniscus behavior under condition with multi-electromagnetic field. Experimental results showed that, (1) Meniscus disturbance generated by electromagnetic stirring could be controlled efficiently, and also separation between meniscus and mold was realized, and suspended melt column with certain height could be formed, stability of meniscus was improved greatly. (2) The location of the two coils had great effect on meniscus contour. Based on the experimental apparatus, the biggest stirring intensity was obtained when the center level of the stirring coil was fixed about 20 mm below molten metal level; and the biggest contact angle was gained when molten metal level was controlled near to the center level of the high frequency coil.
