摘要
Joint structure and physiology may be modulated by some nondrug compounds. Categorizing these compounds as oral chondroprotective agents; nutraceuticals; or slow-acting, disease-modifying agents has produced confusion. This article provides descriptions and rationales for the use of some commonly marketed nondrug compounds used to treat osteoarthritis. Some form of combination therapy may be best for treating osteoarthritis in veterinary patients.
