Medium influence on germination potential of sycamore (Acer pseudoplatanus L.) seeds

摘要
Sycamore seeds are two-fly achenes containing single seed covered by pericarp and testa. The existence of the envelopes is the main source of dormancy. The stratification is needed process to overcome the dormancy. The Czech standard recommends two ways of stratification and germination test i.e. on wet paper or in wet substrate. Our data suggest that wet substrate produce higher germination results - the differences are 32.5% in favour of the substrate. The final germination level reaches under this handling condition about 90%.
