Crystallisation kinetics of fine barium hexaferrite, BaFe12O19, particles in a glass matrix

摘要
Crystallisation kinetics of barium hexaferrite, Ba0.6Fe(2)O(3), in a B2O3-BaO-Fe2O3 glass was studied under isothermal conditions. The fraction crystallised was expressed by the Johnson-Mehl-Avrami equation and an overall activation energy of 353 +/- 10 kJ mol(-1) was obtained for the crystallisation of barium ferrite The rate determining step of BaFe12O19 crystallisation is volume diffusion of solute ions to the interface of the particles.
