The effect of preliminary gamma-irradiation on lasing properties of YAlO3:Nd3+ crystals

摘要：
The effect of preliminary gamma-irradiation on lasing properties of YAlO3:Nd3+ crystals is investigated. A considerable degradation of the output laser energy under the action of ionizing radiation is revealed. It is shown that the degradation degree depends on the specific sample. The possibility of recovering initial lasing parameters through the photobleaching of induced losses by pulses of visible radiation is demonstrated. The mechanisms behind the influence of gamma-induced losses on oscillation in YAlO3:Nd3+ lasers are discussed.
