摘要
Recent advances in building information modelling (BIM) have actively disseminated the utilization of multi-dimensional (nD) CAD information in the construction industry. Utilizing advanced information technologies or instruments such as data acquisition technology (DAT), enterprise resource planning (ERP), computer integrated construction (CIC), or commerce at light speed (CALS) has also been rigorously implemented. Nevertheless, the concept of information systems (IS) in construction is very broad and subjective. Misunderstanding of these acronyms may result in confusions or mismanagement of resources. In order to enhance the communication with shared understanding, to integrate relevant concepts, and to identify effective areas for practical implementation, this study analyzed IS variables in the construction industry. The concept, history, and real-world cases for IS in construction were discussed by comparing two most often used acronyms; CIC and BIM. A comprehensive framework for IS frameworks in construction was then developed and analyzed. Lessons learned and implications are briefly summarized.
